Background: Generation Charleston is the voice of the Capitol City's emerging leaders. Our group was formed by the Charleston Area Alliance in 2006 to create opportunities for young professionals to get connected, engaged and make a difference in our area. Originally named Young Professionals, the group has nearly 500 young professionals who have joined this initiative, which strives to attract and retain young professionals to the region, while focusing on fostering the next generation of leadership. Young professionals are the future intellectual capital of any economy and the Charleston Area Alliance is committed to creating both an economy and community that is and will be attractive to this group of professionals. How do we do it? Community involvement, professional development, and social networking. We work hard, we play hard and we give back.
